It is simply by virtue of having no burning that it is called "coming out." However, both dharma and response are entirely without burning. The response body is fundamentally the same as beings, so in accordance with beings it is said to burn; in terms of principle, dharma and response are without destruction; in terms of phenomena, beings burn and the Buddha comes out. Now speaking of burning together, the intention lies in coming out together; hence it says "if not in time," and so forth. Some say: stimulus and response are simultaneous. We now say that this only grasps the principle of coming out together, but loses the meaning of burning together; therefore, by means of burning together, he requires that they come out together.
