「上有齊教探領今合二意」者，上二文各四，小擬宜知先心、歎三車、適所願，今齊教中但合第三具陳上事即歎三車也，及第四先取其價即適願也。闕第一第二文也。此二任運兼得餘二，思之可知。上有四文，今但三者，闕適願一，餘三次第對擬宜等，具指齊教文也。「教作」即是探領文也。「合付家業譬上有由有付」者，上由有遠近，即小果為遠、體業為近，今但合近。上有命有受，今但合受者不合命也。既有於受必知已命。「而自」等者，兼得餘二。上付業有四者，一時節，二命子聚眾為證，三結會父子，四正付家業。今既付與仍兼上三，須出其意。

Regarding 'Above there is matching the teaching and anticipating understanding; here it corresponds to both meanings': the two passages above each have four [aspects]. For the small-scale proposing: knowing previous aspiration, praising the three carts, and suiting what was wished. Now in 'matching the teaching', it only corresponds to the third, 'fully stating the matters above'—that is, praising the three carts—and the fourth, 'first taking its price'—that is, suiting the wish. It lacks the first and second passages. Naturally, these two implicitly include the other two; this can be known upon reflection. Above there were four passages; here there are only three because it lacks the single one of 'suiting the wish', while the other three sequentially correspond to 'proposing', and so forth, pointing completely to the passage on matching the teaching. 'Teaching him what to do' is the passage on anticipating understanding. Regarding 'Corresponding to the parable of bequeathing the family estate, above there is the cause and the bequeathing': above, the causes had the remote and the near; that is, the Hinayāna fruit is the remote, and recognizing the estate is the near. Here it only corresponds to the near. Above there was commanding and receiving; here it only corresponds to receiving, not commanding. Once there is receiving, one inevitably knows that there has been commanding. Regarding 'And myself', and so forth: it implicitly includes the other two. As for the four aspects of bequeathing the estate above: first is the time; second is commanding the son and gathering the crowd as witnesses; third is concluding and uniting the father and son; fourth is correctly bequeathing the family estate. Now, since it bequeaths it, it still implicitly includes the above three; its meaning must be brought out.
