Regarding 'Many sūtras are named the king of sūtras', and so forth: this is re-explained in terms of the teachings. When sūtras clarify the meaning of the dharmakāya, they are named the king of sūtras. Wisdom tallying with Dharma in correspondence is called 'equal', and so forth; thus in terms of capacity, in contrast to Dharma and in contrast to wisdom, they are called 'king' and 'equal to a king', which is the various Mahāyāna sections contrasted with the Small. Worldly people do not understand, and seeing that various Mahāyāna texts are all called 'king of sūtras', they then claim that the Lotus Sūtra is equal to the other teachings. I say now: the milk and the two curds both discuss the Dharma and reward; although both are called 'king', they are not the king of all sūtras; even if a sūtra says 'king of all sūtras', it does not say that among what has been spoken, is now spoken, and will be spoken, it is the foremost; its meaning can be known through 'combined, sole, comparative, and inclusive'. 'Unrestrained' (si) means release, letting out, and expressing.
