Next, regarding "in terms of great wisdom": "true and real"—although generally encompassing the four unities, specifically rests upon what is revealed. Therefore, it first praises the great wisdom, and next praises the dharma that is spoken and revealed. Great wisdom is simply the wisdom of all species, which was already fully explained before; now it is only further distinguished in its similarities and differences with uncommon prajñā. Therein, first there is a question, next the answer following "The Exegesis (Treatise)", and third the metaphor following "like one". Because both that prajñā and this great wisdom are capable of entering, the words "wondrous dharma" in one part encompass wisdom. Fourth, the section following "It should be known" concludes that the intent of the two texts is identical. Next, regarding "arising the subsequent and illuminating the origin": illuminating the origin in contrast to the traces can be called origin and traces. Therein are two parts: first, clarifying the cause of what arises. Because the tower emerged, they requested it to be opened; because the tower was opened, they saw the Buddha; because they saw the Buddha, they requested empowerment; because they obtained empowerment, they were in the empty sky; because they were in the empty sky, he summoned the assembly; because he summoned the assembly, the voice penetrated everywhere; because the voice penetrated everywhere, the assembly arrived; because the assembly arrived, doubts arose; because doubts arose, he was able to speak. As for the words "clarifying the profound" and so forth: briefly citing the sūtra title profoundly subsumes the entire work; thus it says, "The Buddha wishes to take this wondrous dharma..." and so forth. The section following "the distant past" clarifies what can arise and what is signified, signifying the benefits throughout the three time periods of the ground of origin. Since he was extinguished long ago and now emerges, it is called "supernatural powers"; since the present benefit lies in the preaching, it is called "sound and voice"; since the vows do not cease, they exhaust the future. Using this to arise that is therefore called "opening".
