四正約今經，有五：一通別，二三因，三遲速，四師弟，五懸記。應言現未但是文略，然此五意須約今經以簡他經，或遲如聲聞、或速如龍女。

Fourth, directly treating the present sūtra, there are five [points]: first, general and specific; second, the three causes; third, slow and swift; fourth, master and disciple; fifth, prophetic bestowal of prophecy. One ought to say 'present and future', but the text is merely abbreviated. Yet these five points must be applied to the present sūtra to distinguish it from other sūtras: either slow, like the voice-hearers, or swift, like the dragon girl.
