答：〈信解品〉云「世尊大恩，無量億劫誰能報者」，故總序釋迦從初發意至于此會，始終屈曲積劫崎岴。有斯十種恩也。此序〈信解品〉意兼身子等領解文也。晚見論云「欲顯佛乘與二乘異，故說窮子譬喻。佛乘如長者尊豪、二乘如窮子鄙賤，此欲令已解者於大小堅明、未悟者改三信一。」與今釋符會也。

Answer: The "Faith and Understanding Chapter" states: "The World-Honoured One's great kindness—in immeasurable kotis of kalpas, who could repay it?" Thus it summarizes Śākyamuni from his initial aspiration down to this assembly, through all its twists and turns, rugged and arduous through accumulated kalpas. He possesses these ten kinds of kindness. This outlines the purport of the "Faith and Understanding Chapter" together with the text of Śāriputra and the others' comprehension. Lately I have seen that the [Upadeśa] treatise states: "Wishing to show that the Buddha vehicle is different from the two vehicles, he therefore preached the parable of the prodigal son. The Buddha vehicle is like the elder, noble and grand; the two vehicles are like the prodigal son, lowly and base. This is intended to cause those who have already understood to be firm and clear regarding the great and the small, and those who have not yet awakened to abandon the three and believe in the one." This accords and agrees with the present explanation.
