復次欲廣說諸菩薩智慧功德，宣通此法擁護眾生，故說是經。如說藥王、妙音、觀音乃至普賢等功德智慧等。

Furthermore, it is because [the Buddha] wishes to explain extensively the wisdom and merit of the various bodhisattvas, so as to propagate this Dharma and protect sentient beings, that this sūtra is spoken—just as it explains the merit, wisdom, and so forth of Bhaiṣajyarāja, Gadgadasvara, Avalokiteśvara, up to Samantabhadra, and so forth.
