次釋蓮華義。有人言：外國名分陀利，此間翻為蓮華。蓮華有四色，簡三取一，謂白蓮華名分陀利。白者，諸色中本，亦是喻白淨平等慧。

Next, the meaning of "lotus flower" (puṇḍarīka) is explained. Some say: In foreign lands it is called *puṇḍarīka*, which is translated here as "lotus flower". Lotus flowers have four colors; setting aside three and selecting one, the white lotus is called *puṇḍarīka*. White is the basis among all colors, and it also illustrates the pure and equal wisdom.
