Thirteenth, Liu Qiu's Collected Commentaries gathered the explanations of eight masters: [Dao]an, [Fa]lin, [Fa]yi, [Hui]yuan, [Kumāra]jīva, [Seng]zhao, [Dao]rong, and [Dao]heng. The general idea of his preface states: The teaching condenses beyond the three and the one; the result is profound beyond the sixteen-foot body; being without name and without mark is the ultimate purport of this sūtra. Unless one's realization transcends the three emptinesses and one's wisdom penetrates the ten stages, who could distinguish a name where there is no name, or establish an explanation where there is no explanation? Critique: Examining the commentaries' intention, it is largely identical with Rui, [Hui]guan, and others, together distinguishing the explanation of being without reliance and without attainment, forgetting words and forgetting marks.
