答：此經明一佛乘因、一佛乘果。一佛乘因，因具萬行；一佛乘果，果具三德。二乘之因，因不具萬行；二乘之果，果不備三德。若果不備三德，則果不異二乘；因不具萬行，因不異二乘耳。豈可然乎？

Answer: This sūtra clarifies the cause of the one Buddha-vehicle and the fruit of the one Buddha-vehicle. As for the cause of the one Buddha-vehicle, the cause is endowed with myriad practices; as for the fruit of the one Buddha-vehicle, the fruit is endowed with the three virtues. As for the cause of the two vehicles, the cause is not endowed with myriad practices; as for the fruit of the two vehicles, the fruit is not endowed with the three virtues. If the fruit were not endowed with the three virtues, then the fruit would not differ from the two vehicles; if the cause were not endowed with myriad practices, the cause would not differ from the two vehicles. How could that be so?
