Answer: As cited before: 'This Dharma cannot be demonstrated'—that is the true mark. Furthermore, the twenty-thousand-crore Candrasūryapradīpa Buddhas of the past said: 'The meaning of the true mark of all dharmas has already been spoken for you.' It also says: 'The quiescent and extinguished mark of all dharmas cannot be declared in words.' It also says: 'All dharmas from the very beginning are constantly and naturally marks of quiescence and extinction.' Such passages are extremely numerous and cannot be cited in full. Furthermore, if one wishes to discern the tenet, one must observe the scripture's title. The title says 'Wondrous Dharma' (Saddharma), which is the correct Dharma. As for the correct Dharma, the Avataṃsaka-sūtra says: 'The nature of the correct Dharma is far removed from the paths of all spoken words; all destinies and non-destinies are completely the marks of quiescence and extinction.' Because the correct Dharma cuts off names and marks, it is therefore called 'wondrous.' If it were reached by the four propositions, what wondrousness would there be?
