答：文中已明竟也。但有人謂此為一乘文，非涅槃也。今明不然，經文正對小涅槃明大涅槃，小涅槃為方便、大涅槃為真實，故前句明非真實、後句明真滅。

Answer: It has already been explained in the text. However, some claim that this refers to the text of the one vehicle and is not about nirvāṇa. We now clarify that this is not so: the sūtra text directly contrasts the lesser nirvāṇa to illuminate the great nirvāṇa; the lesser nirvāṇa is provisional and the great nirvāṇa is real. Therefore, the preceding verse explains it is not real extinction, and the subsequent verse explains true extinction.
