問：此經明涅槃與昔不異。何以知然？此經明佛既是無常終入無餘，與小乘同也。又初品云「佛此夜滅度如薪盡火滅」，故知與小乘不異。

Question: This sūtra explains that nirvāṇa is not different from that of the past. How is this known? Since this sūtra explains that the Buddha is impermanent and ultimately enters [nirvāṇa] without remainder, it is identical to the lesser vehicle. Furthermore, the first chapter states, "The Buddha this night attains extinction, like fire extinguished when fuel is exhausted"; thus we know it is not different from the lesser vehicle.
