答：〈壽量品〉云「以方便力故說有滅不滅」，豈同二乘灰身滅智云如薪盡火滅耶。又感盡應必滅，蓋是數之然也。《大經》云「諸佛法爾，有為亦然」。

Answer: The "Lifespan" chapter states: "By the power of skillful means, / I speak of extinction and non-extinction." How could it be the same as the two vehicles' reducing the body to ashes and extinguishing wisdom, speaking of it as fire extinguished when fuel is exhausted? Furthermore, when resonance is exhausted, response must necessarily cease; this is simply the nature of things. The *Great Sūtra* states: "Such is the nature of all buddhas, and conditioned phenomena are also thus."
