答：下文云「諸佛已說今說當說，此法華經最為難信難解。」故須三說。又初說令下種，次說令生長，後說得成熟。又初說生聞慧，次說生思慧，後說生脩慧。

Answer: A subsequent passage states: "Among what the buddhas have preached, are now preaching, and will preach, this *Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra* is the most difficult to believe and difficult to understand." Therefore three preachings are required. Furthermore, the first preaching causes seeds to be planted, the second preaching causes them to grow, and the final preaching brings them to maturity. Furthermore, the first preaching generates wisdom born of hearing, the second preaching generates wisdom born of reflection, and the final preaching generates wisdom born of cultivation.
