答：經師種種異說皆不分明，今略解釋之使易了也。佛為三根人開三乘，中根人鄙聲聞從師，復憚佛道長遠，是以其人出無佛世成辟支佛，故法華座中無緣覺也。

Answer: The various differing explanations of scripture masters are all unclear; now it will be briefly explained to make it easy to understand. The Buddha opened the three vehicles for persons of three faculties; those of middling faculties despise śrāvakas following a teacher, yet also fear the length and distance of the Buddha Path, and therefore they appear in an era without a buddha and become pratyekabuddhas. Hence there are no pratyekabuddhas in the assembly of the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra.
