5.84

二者非本乘緣覺。其人本是聲聞，於佛法中證得初果，初果人但十四生滿值佛則成羅漢，不值佛成辟支。如此之人或有值佛義，以其成辟支竟而佛便出世，故有值佛義也。

The second are pratyekabuddhas not of the original vehicle. Such a person is originally a śrāvaka who realizes the first fruit within the Buddhadharma; a person of the first fruit needs only complete fourteen births: if they encounter a buddha, they become an arhat; if they do not encounter a buddha, they become a pratyekabuddha. Such a person may sometimes encounter a buddha, because after they have completed becoming a pratyekabuddha, a buddha then appears in the world; hence there is the possibility of encountering a buddha.
