6.61

答：昔說三乘是實，今遂云有一無二。昔有三之言竟何所在？以今無徵昔有，亦以昔有難今無，故名為索也。經師不體此言，故謂三人索，致成異說。今觀其言甚易見耳。

Answer: Formerly it was said that the three vehicles are real, but now it is claimed that there is one and not two. Where, after all, are the words that formerly posited three? Questioning what was formerly posited on the basis of present non-existence, and also challenging present non-existence on the basis of what was formerly posited—this is called "demanding." Treatise masters fail to grasp this statement and therefore think that three kinds of people demand, giving rise to divergent theories. Now, examining the words, it is quite easy to see.
