答：身子〈譬喻品〉初總騰中下根皆有疑悔，故即中下根人有索文也。又以義推之，昔三根皆保執昔教自謂究竟，故並無索。聞今教無三究竟，故皆有索，則義可知也。

Answer: At the beginning of the "Parable" chapter, Śāriputra generally brought forth that both the middling and inferior faculties harboured doubts and regrets; thus, this is the text of asking for persons of middling and inferior faculties. Moreover, deducing it through principle: formerly, all three faculties clung to and preserved the past teaching, regarding themselves as having reached the ultimate; hence none asked. Hearing that the present teaching has no ultimate three, all therefore ask. Thus the principle may be known.
