答：成佛事大，非是佛果無以授之。又成佛必須佛授。所以然者，成佛必須見佛性明了、法身顯現，十地已還見佛性未明、法身未現，故不得授見性明了、法身顯現記也。

Answer: Becoming a Buddha is a great matter; without the Buddha fruit there is no way to bestow it. Furthermore, becoming a Buddha must be prophesied by a Buddha. Why is this so? Becoming a Buddha requires seeing Buddha-nature clearly and the dharmakāya becoming manifest; below the ten stages, seeing Buddha-nature is not yet clear and the dharmakāya is not yet manifest, and therefore they cannot bestow the prophecy of seeing nature clearly and the dharmakāya becoming manifest.
