Answer: One may examine its intention closely. This wisdom and severance can be viewed from both sides: If one speaks of ultimate wisdom and severance, this does not exist, and therefore cannot be converged. Yet there is this non-ultimate wisdom and severance, which ought to be converged and returned to the one vehicle; hence it is said, "What you are practicing is the bodhisattva path." The treatise explains: "'What you are practicing is the bodhisattva path' means that after regressing from the prior aspiration for bodhi, one generates it again; what was previously cultivated and the roots of goodness are not destroyed, because they align with the fruit attained later." This intention clarifies that it takes the roots of goodness of the aspiration for bodhi, and therefore it is the bodhisattva path. The wisdom and severance of the two vehicles are both distant conditions for the bodhisattva path; the roots of goodness of humans and devas are likewise so.
