問：若此經明授記者，何故《淨名》廣破授記？又《思益經》云「願我生生不聞授記名字」，《大品》云「若住阿鞞跋致及授記，皆是戲論」，今何因緣故明授記耶？

Question: If this sūtra explains bestowing prophecy, why does the Vimalakīrti broadly refute bestowing prophecy? Furthermore, the Viśeṣacintibrahma-paripṛcchā-sūtra says: "May I in life after life not hear the name of bestowing prophecy." The Large Prajñāpāramitā says: "Abiding in avaivartika as well as prophecy are both frivolous talk." Now due to what causes and conditions is bestowing prophecy explained?
