答：三界及二乘是佛道巨難，若能度之必至佛道。故《大經》有三處文明二乘至義：一云至菩提心、二云至菩提、三云至大涅槃。然二乘經爾所劫，但應至菩提心耳。而言至大涅槃及菩提，以至菩提心必至佛道及涅槃故也。

Answer: The three realms and the two vehicles are immense difficulties on the Buddha path; if one can cross them, one will surely reach the Buddha path. Therefore, in the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra there are three passages clarifying the meaning of the two vehicles 'reaching': the first says reaching the bodhicitta; the second says reaching bodhi; the third says reaching great nirvāṇa. However, although followers of the two vehicles pass through that many kalpas, they should merely reach bodhicitta. Yet it speaks of reaching great nirvāṇa and bodhi because reaching bodhicitta necessarily leads to reaching the Buddha path and nirvāṇa.
