答：理數應然，豈可度二乘地便得佛耶？又下偈中具足明之「今為汝說實，汝所得非滅」，此明度五百惡道也。「為佛一切智，當發大精進，謂行菩薩行」，即好路也。「汝證一切智，十力等佛法」，謂得佛道也。又度五百即至佛者，三百為分段生死，二百屬變易生死，度於二種生死必得至佛也。

Answer: The principle and numbers naturally imply it—how could one attain Buddhahood merely by crossing the stage of the two vehicles? Furthermore, the verses below clearly state this in full: 'Now I tell you the truth, what you have attained is not extinction'—this clarifies crossing the five hundred [yojanas of] the evil road. 'For the sake of the Buddha's omniscient knowledge, you should arouse great vigor, which means practicing the bodhisattva practices'—this is the good path. 'You shall realize omniscient knowledge and the Buddha's dharmas such as the ten powers'—this refers to attaining the Buddha path. Furthermore, crossing five hundred and thereupon reaching the Buddha means that three hundred are the saṃsāra of fragmentary [birth and death], and two hundred belong to the saṃsāra of transformative [birth and death]; having crossed these two kinds of saṃsāra, one will surely reach the Buddha.
