答：亦有此義。如位不退菩薩，已過凡夫行及二乘行，此人已度五百惡道，但修菩薩行，入平坦好路，進至佛果寶所也。若就二生死為五百者，唯佛度五百耳。

Answer: There is also this meaning. For example, a bodhisattva of non-retrogression has already moved past the practices of ordinary persons and the practices of the two vehicles; such a person has already crossed the five hundred [yojanas of] the evil road, and only cultivates the bodhisattva practices, enters the level and good path, and advances to reach the place of jewels of the Buddha fruit. If taking the two kinds of saṃsāra as the five hundred, then only a Buddha crosses the five hundred.
