答：法身不生不滅本自有之，如經言「隱名如來藏，顯則名法身。」法身豈修因所得耶？故知法身非報。今示行因得果、果起酬因，故名為報也。

Answer: The dharmakāya is neither born nor destroyed and is intrinsically existent, as the sūtra says: "When concealed, it is named the tathāgatagarbha; when manifest, it is named the dharmakāya." How could the dharmakāya be attained by cultivating causes? Therefore, we know that the dharmakāya is not a reward. Now, manifesting the fruition attained through practicing causes, with the fruition arising in recompense for causes, is what is named "reward".
