答：此經云「壽命無量劫，久修業所得。」則知初發菩提心，中修菩薩行，後得法身，故知有始。既證法身無復生滅，故無有終。此須解《大經》純陀難及佛舉本有今無偈釋之，方見此義意耳。若就此中釋之，於文義為繁。

Answer: This sūtra says: "Lifespan of immeasurable kalpas, obtained through long-cultivated karma." Thus we know that initially generating the bodhicitta, in the middle cultivating the bodhisattva practices, and in the end attaining the dharmakāya shows that it has a beginning. Since having realized the dharmakāya there is no more arising and ceasing, it has no end. This must be explained by understanding Cunda's objection in the Great Scripture and the Buddha citing the verse on "originally having, now lacking," only then seeing the intention of this meaning. If explained here, it would be overly cumbersome for the text and meaning.
