答：淨穢麁妙不同故不相礙，如首真天子身不礙於地，又如無間地獄雖百千共處亦不為妨，又如提胡不礙麁器，況淨穢二質而相妨耶？故燒穢不燒淨，如欲界火不能燒淨居天身，況淨土耶。

Answer: Because the pure and defiled differ in coarseness and subtlety, they do not obstruct one another. Just as the body of the devaputra Śuddhaprabha does not obstruct the ground; or again, just as in the Avīci hell, although hundreds of thousands are together in the same place they do not obstruct each other; or again, just as clarified butter (sarpirmaṇḍa) does not obstruct a coarse vessel—how much less would the two substances of pure and defiled obstruct one another? Therefore burning the defiled does not burn the pure, just as the fires of the desire realm cannot burn the bodies of the devas of the Śuddhāvāsa heaven, how much less the pure land!
