Second, to discuss 'one substance, two perceptions' within the trace: Śāriputra saw Śākyamuni's land as defiled, while the Brahmā King saw Śākyamuni's land as pure; Śāriputra saw it as a human land, while the Brahmā King saw it as a heavenly land. Yet Śākyamuni's pure land is not such a land of humans and devas; thus Śākyamuni's land is like a land adorned with jewels, while the conditions of humans and devas cause them naturally to see the two lands of humans and devas. Therefore it is called 'one substance, two perceptions.'
