9.51

答：此會之眾有三因緣，一者久積淨心應見淨土、二積見佛因緣應見多佛、三應聞本迹皆得領悟，如〈分別功德品〉十二種利益，故留此會也；其餘人天無三因緣故移之也。

Answer: The assembly here possesses three causes and conditions: first, having long accumulated pure minds, they ought to see the pure land; second, having accumulated causes and conditions for seeing buddhas, they ought to see many buddhas; third, they ought to hear the origin and trace (benji) and thereby attain comprehension, just like the twelve kinds of benefits in the "Chapter on the Discrimination of Merits." Therefore, this assembly is retained. The other gods and humans lack these three causes and conditions, so they are displaced.
