答：初成道時，大緣已熟堪受大化，故現舍那在前化之。小乘未熟待後方化。又化時長為舍那，化時短為釋迦。

Answer: When first attaining the Way, the great conditions were already mature and capable of receiving the great transformation; therefore Rocana was manifested first to transform them. The small vehicle was not yet mature, awaiting transformation later. Furthermore, when the time of transformation is long it is Rocana, and when the time of transformation is short it is Śākyamuni.
