Answer: Prajñā explains rejoicing in accord without attainment in order to shatter the attachment to having attainment. Having attainment does not move, does not transcend, and cannot reach buddhahood; hence it is not prajñā. The Lotus Sūtra takes both together because it narrates the great purpose of all buddhas appearing in the world, showing that all teachings are given to open the one correct path; therefore even the goodness of lowering the head or raising a hand enters the one vehicle. Furthermore, followers of the five vehicles thought that the roots of goodness of the four vehicles would not result in buddhahood and that only the roots of goodness of the buddha vehicle would result in buddhahood; to cure this illness, it explains that all goodness results in buddhahood.
