Answer: One intends by analogy to reveal the difference between the two bodies. Since the two nirvāṇas, greater and lesser, are different, the two dharmakāyas, greater and lesser, are also different. The fivefold dharmakāya of the lesser vehicle is a body of arising, extinction, and impermanence; the Mahāyāna dharmakāya refers to an eternal body free of arising and extinction. If this sūtra explained that the dharmakāya is still impermanent, then this sūtra would also explain that nirvāṇa is not different from that of the lesser vehicle.
