Fourth, that the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra is the teaching of the one vehicle should indeed be beyond doubt, and yet the [traditional] view is also not sound. The commentary, explaining the "Chapter on Certainty" in the Prajñāpāramitā, says that Subhūti heard the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra explain that all become buddhas, and also heard that in the Prajñāpāramitā there is retrogression, and therefore now asks whether it is certain or not certain. If so, it should not be that the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra exclusively explains the one vehicle while the Prajñāpāramitā completely lacks this teaching. Furthermore, the commentary says: "The Saddharmapuṇḍarīka is another name for the Prajñāpāramitā"; it should not be that the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra explains the teaching of the one vehicle while the Prajñāpāramitā has not yet explained it.
