Answer: The Avataṃsaka briefly explains three matters from first to last. First, it explains that the Buddha is able to emit sounds equal in number to [all] sentient beings, which other people cannot do; only the Buddha alone is able to, and therefore the Buddha is inconceivable. Second, the Buddha is able, within a single sound, to simultaneously emit sounds equal in number to sentient beings, so that all sentient beings each have something heard. This explains that other people cannot emit all sounds within a single sound, while the Buddha is able to do so. Third, expounding the Dharma with a single sound is able to cause all [beings] each to have something heard, and also does not divide the single sound into many sounds. Others cannot do this; only the Buddha alone is able. If it is like this, it possesses three kinds of meanings and cannot be restricted to one. These three all reveal the inconceivable matter of the Buddha's secret of speech. Since the secret of speech is threefold, the [secret of] body is also like this.
