《析羅漢經》云「七地不退」，故阿鞞跋致明七地事，《般舟三昧》明八地事，《首楞嚴三昧》明十地事，今云何言八地不退？
The Xiluohan jing says that "the seventh ground is non-retrogressing," and thus the avaivartika explains the matter of the seventh ground, the Pratyutpanna-samādhi explains the matter of the eighth ground, and the Śūraṅgama-samādhi explains the matter of the tenth ground; why then is it now said that the eighth ground is non-retrogressing?
