由文殊釋時眾之疑，辨古佛說之於前、釋迦敷之於後，預杜疑謗之萌、逆開信解之漸，然後釋迦始得起定說法，故言因文殊以說《法華經》也。

Because Mañjuśrī resolved the doubts of the assembly at that time, discerning that the ancient buddhas had preached it previously and Śākyamuni would explain it later, thereby nipping doubts and slanders in the bud and fostering the initial stages of faith and understanding beforehand, after which Śākyamuni was first able to rise from samādhi and preach the Dharma. Therefore it is said that the Lotus Sūtra was preached because of Mañjuśrī.
