From "When the Buddha preached this" onward is the fourth [section], the mutual benefit. First, listing the people who obtained benefit; from "all generated the [mind directed to] the peerless" onward, second, directly clarifying the obtaining of benefit. The Buddha path has no equal; only Buddhas are equal to Buddhas, hence this path is named "the peerless." As to why the Buddha is called "the peerless" and further called "equal to the peerless," the Buddha possesses two meanings: first, downwardly there is difference; second, upwardly there is parity. Downward difference is called "peerless"; upward parity is called "equal to the peerless." Because the Buddha is named "equal to the peerless," now generating the Buddha mind is called generating the mind directed to the peerless.
