When the mind has nothing upon which to rely, like empty space, and does not give rise to mental activities or stir thoughts, it is called the forbearance of the non-arising of phenomena. Though empty, it is existent; functioning freely at ease and manifesting bodies everywhere, this is the samādhi of universally manifesting physical forms. The opening and unification of the three and the one without any defiled attachment is the Lotus Samādhi.
