From 'Within all worlds' downward is the second part: recapitulating the sighting of the signs. The prose has seven matters, but here only five are recapitulated: recapitulating the gate of the teaching while concurrently recapitulating the four assemblies; recapitulating the erection of stūpas while concurrently recapitulating nirvāṇa; and recapitulating the remaining five matters. Maitreya opens this into three gates: first, recapitulating the three matters of sentient beings, the transforming lord, and the gate of the teaching; second, concluding the preceding and introducing the subsequent; third, recapitulating the two matters of the bodhisattvas and the erection of stūpas. The reason for recapitulating the first three matters is that the six destinies are those being transformed, and the buddhas are the transforming lords. Next, recapitulating the gate of the teaching: those being transformed are the sick, the transforming lord is the good physician, and the gate of the teaching is the wondrous medicine; these three matters must mutually complete each other, and therefore they must be recapitulated as one class. Furthermore, the six destinies are the capacity to evoke a response, and the transforming lord and gate of the teaching are the dual responses of form and sound; the capacity to evoke does not exceed the six destinies, and the capacity to respond does not depart from form and sound. Moreover, the six destinies are the listeners, the buddhas are the speakers, and the gate of the teaching is the true Dharma; through obtaining these three matters, saṃsāra has an end, and therefore only these three are recapitulated. 'Within all worlds' refers to the vessel world. 'Sentient beings of the six destinies' refers to the realm of sentient beings. These form a pair of the dependent and the primary [recompense]. 'The conditions of good and evil karma to which they head in birth and death' is the cause. 'Receiving retributions, attractive and ugly' is the effect. These form a pair of cause and effect. 'All are seen here': the light capable of illuminating and the matters illuminated explained above are all what is seen; the great assembly is that which sees; these are termed a pair of subject and object. Because seeing the matters of sentient beings is concluded, it is summarized with 'all are seen'.
