From "Or seeing bodhisattvas" below explains the perfection of forbearance. Upholding precepts means not creating evil oneself; practicing forbearance means enduring others striking and reviling oneself. There are three kinds of forbearance: first, forbearance toward harm done by others; second, forbearance that peacefully endures suffering; third, forbearance through contemplation of dharmas. Here, saying that they dwell alone in quietude, far removed from the five desires and suppressing the six emotional feelings, refers to forbearance that peacefully endures suffering and forbearance through contemplation of dharmas.
