It intends to cite many past Buddhas as verification, so that those hearing the ekayāna may have faith and accept it. The text has four phrases, combined into two pairs. First, it explains that their names on the path and secular family names were identical. "Sun-Moon-Lamp Brilliance" is the name on the path; "surname Bharadvāja" is the secular family name. Tripiṭaka Master Paramārtha said: "Translated as 'sage of sharp faculties', one of the surnames among the six brāhmaṇa lineages. It is also translated as 'eloquence'. It is also translated as 'fullness', fullness meaning correctness. I personally heard Indian monks say it means fullness." From "Maitreya, you should know" downward, it explains the persons of the ten titles and the Dharma of the seven excellences; person and Dharma form a pair that are identical. Furthermore, the name on the path, the secular family name, and the ten titles—these three phrases explain that the persons were identical; the seven excellences are identity of the Dharma. The reason for explaining that all these matters were identical is that they share the essence of the single ultimate path; citing the past to illustrate the present, it intends to reveal that the present Buddha wishes to preach the single ultimate path.
