「爾時文殊師利」下，第二、偈頌。彌勒說偈不言大眾者，欲顯文殊明見往事，巧釋眾疑益於大眾，故言大眾。彌勒不爾，故不言大眾。又顯事分明是公灼之說，故稱大眾也。彌勒為賓，既有長行與偈；文殊為主，事亦同然。

From "At that time Mañjuśrī" below is the second: the verses. When Maitreya expounded his verses, he did not mention the great assembly; [here] it wishes to reveal that Mañjuśrī clearly saw past events and skillfully resolved the assembly's doubts to benefit the great assembly, hence it says "the great assembly." Maitreya was not like this, so he did not mention the great assembly. Furthermore, to reveal that the matter is clear and is an open, public exposition, it names the great assembly. Maitreya being the guest, he had both prose and verses; Mañjuśrī being the host, the case is also the same.
