The later text clarifies that the person is different from the earlier person; therefore it is known that the two persons are distinct. Furthermore, the earlier text judged the ordinary loss as 'not a disciple of the Buddha, not an arhat, not a pratyekabuddha'; thus it is known to be the loss of an ordinary person. The later text judges the loss by simply saying that they are 'of overweening pride'. Since they are already arhats, they cannot be 'not disciples of the Buddha' and 'not arhats'; it is merely because they claim of themselves that it is ultimate and do not aspire to seek Buddhahood that they are given the name of 'overweening pride'.
