通說一切自謂究竟羅漢，而正主三根聲聞是也。故舍利弗云「爾時心自謂得至於滅度」，乃至迦葉中根亦作此執，現〈信解品〉及〈化城品〉也。

Generally speaking, it refers to all arhats who claim of themselves to have reached the ultimate, but primarily it refers to the śrāvakas of the three faculties. Thus Śāriputra said, 'At that time my mind thought of itself as having attained extinction,' and even Mahākāśyapa of intermediate faculty also held this attachment, as shown in the 'Belief and Understanding Chapter' and the 'Parable of the Conjured City Chapter'.
