They possess the three bodies. First, it explains that abiding on the ground of the dharmakāya, seeing that beings have suffering and no joy, he gives rise to great compassion. Next, at the time of his initial attainment of enlightenment, he expounds the Avataṃsaka teaching for the bodhisattvas; this is the Rocana body. The third approach is expounding the triyāna teaching for the śrāvakas; this is the Śākyamuni body. The first refers to the body seen by the Buddha, the next is the body seen by bodhisattvas, and the last is the body seen by those of the two vehicles. Furthermore, the first is the dharmakāya, the next is the saṃbhogakāya, and the last is the nirmāṇakāya. In the fourth approach, upon hearing the ekayāna, one completely understands the teaching's intent from beginning to end, possessing all three bodies; therefore, the Fahua lun in explaining the 'Lifespan Chapter' fully elucidates the three bodies.
