4.51

「終不以小乘」下，此半行標不為小事出世章門，亦得唯此一事實，釋上為大事故出世章門，餘二則非真，釋成不為小事出世章門，以餘二非真故，終不以小乘度物也。「佛自住大乘」下，第二、釋兩章門也。初一行釋佛為大事出世章門，以佛自住大乘，還以佛所得法度物也。

From "I would never use the Hīnayāna" downward: this half-line indicates the thematic topic of not appearing in the world for minor matters. One may also take "only this one true matter" to explain the preceding thematic topic of appearing in the world for the sake of the great matter, and "the other two are not real" as explaining and completing the thematic topic of not appearing in the world for minor matters. Because the other two are not real, [the Buddha] never uses the Hīnayāna to liberate beings. From "the Buddha himself abides in the Mahāyāna" downward is the second part, which explains both thematic topics. The first full line explains the thematic topic of the Buddha appearing in the world for the sake of the great matter: because the Buddha himself abides in the Mahāyāna, he also liberates beings using the Dharma obtained by the Buddha.
