With respect to the verses, there are two parts: first, directly versifying the conferment of prophecy; second, explaining the intent of conferring prophecy. Regarding the first, there are three sections: first, generally setting forth the conferment of prophecy; second, explaining it; third, concluding it. The general setting forth is as in the text. From “Making offerings to countless Buddhas” onwards explains the conferment of prophecy. The first stanza versifies the cultivation of causes above; the next eight stanzas versify the attainment of the fruit. Within the attainment of the fruit: the first half-stanza versifies the fruit of the season; one and a half stanzas versify the fruit of the world; two stanzas versify the fruit of the retinue; one stanza versifies the fruit of the transforming master; one stanza versifies the fruit of the lifespan; two stanzas versify the fruit of upholding. The half-stanza from “What Padmaprabha Buddha achieves” onwards is third: the general conclusion. From “That Sacred Honored One among Two-Legged Beings” onwards is second: explaining the intent of conferring prophecy. The reason prophecy is conferred is to make him rejoice personally, delighting in the fruit and practicing the causes. It does not versify the two fruits of the doctrinal gate and succession above; the verses and the prose alternate in being extensive or brief. From “At that time the fourfold assembly” onwards is second: explaining the assembly's rejoicing, awakening, and understanding.
