5.16

「爾時舍利弗」下，此是法說中第二大段，上根人領解。所以得領解者，以教是緣教，故言教稱緣；緣是教緣，故言緣稱教。教稱緣故應病授藥，緣稱教故如法服行，是故上根即便領悟也。

From 'At that time Śāriputra' onward is the second major section within the exposition of Dharma: the person of superior capacity expressing understanding. The reason he was able to express understanding is that the teaching corresponds to the conditions, so it is said that the teaching matches the conditions; the conditions are the conditions for the teaching, so it is said that the conditions match the teaching. Because the teaching matches the conditions, medicine is administered according to the disease; because the conditions match the teaching, it is taken and practiced in accord with the Dharma. Therefore, the person of superior capacity immediately grasped and awakened.
