5.188

此領開方便門、顯真實義，昔明五眾生滅者，此是方便說耳；今明五眾不生不滅者，乃是真實說耳。以昔見五眾是生滅故守小迷大，今知本不生滅則改二執。

This expresses understanding of opening the door of expedient means and illuminating the real meaning. That which formerly explained the five aggregates as arising and ceasing was merely an expedient teaching; that which now explains the five aggregates as neither arising nor ceasing is indeed the real teaching. Because they formerly saw the five aggregates as arising and ceasing, they clung to the small and were confused about the great; now, knowing that they are fundamentally neither arising nor ceasing, they transform their two attachments.
